Tripoli, 13.08.2015(Lana) President of the GNC, Nuri Abusahmain,
praised Thursday the Libyan army on the 75th anniversary of the
founding of the army.
" When we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the army
we celebrate the past, present and the future, without an organized
military institution we cannot build a homeland. Without an army we
cannot realize dreams, aspirations and hopes, without security
institutions, police and army we cannot prevent foreign intervention"
he said.
He said when we resolved in the holy month of Ramadan to
activate and rebuild the army institution we formed 11 brigades and
now the number has risen to 13 brigades with the participation of all
Libyan regions.
Abusahmain said coup plotter wanted partition of the country
using Cyrenaica as a theme for separatism but the heroes of Cyrenaica
both officers, soldiers and revolutionaries rejected separatism and
vowed to be part of these brigades. "We formed three brigades, one in
Tobrouk, another brigade in Green Mountain and one in Benghazi.
Abusahmain also stressed that he made it clear to the UN and
world leaders that dialogue is the strategic option and that a
military solution is not acceptable in Libya.
He said after 17th February we wanted to build state
institutions but he said regrettably coup plotters and some former
regime followers wanted it a coup on the principles of 17th February
revolution.
Abusahmain said these symbolic units of the armed forces parading
today would secure any next future consensus government and any
political body to be produced. He said as the supreme commander of
the Libyan army according to the constitutional declaration we will
not allow the allegiance of the army to be to an individual, leader
or party or bloc, tribe or city.
He also stressed to protect the rights of members of the Libyan
army before any new agreement, such as their salaries be improved,
their health and work conditions. He said he is about to enact laws
in this respect.
Abusahmain said we Libyans should stand in one rank against
terrorism, extremism, illegal immigration and illegal expenditure and
squandering of Libyan money and against those who may terrorize
civilians.
He also criticized Tunisian authorities for dubbing Libya as safe
haven for terrorism and a source of terrorism saying they should
reconsider their calculations..
