Leon urges for a peaceful settlement to Libya crisis.

Tripoli, 16.07.2015(Lana) Head of United National Support Mission
in Libya (UNSMIL) Bernardino Leon has praised the recent release of
many prisoners in Western Libya, urging all parties to release all
detainees by the end of Ramadan.
In his briefing to the Security Council, Wednesday about the
situation in Libya, Leon said such measures would largely contribute
to realizing the second phase of the political dialogue.
Leon said the humanitarian situation in Libya , is still of
concern especially with the increasing number of the displaced since
last September and not offering them any humanitarian assistance.
He also said there are areas in southern Libya which are in need
for assistance but due to security situation humanitarian teams were
not able to reach them.
He also said the country is in critical situation urging all
parties to continue constructively in dialogue.
Leon said through dialogue and compromises can achieve a peaceful
solution to the conflict in the country, explaining that the
political transition would be carried out through joint efforts to
have a national consensus government, which would be the only
solution in the face of Islamic state organization and the groups
tied to them.
Leon expressed confidence that the international community is
ready to provide the required support according to the priorities to
be identified by Libyans.
