Tunis, 12. 07.2015(Lana) Tunisia decided to add 40 km to the
length of the fence it is going to erected along its borders with
Libya.
Tunisian Minister of Defense, Farahat Al-Harshani explain
yesterday according to the Tunisian news agency that the extension
would be after Dahiba to become 220 km long starting from Ras Jadier
in the first phase, to be extended later to Burj Al-Khadhra to ensure
securing all the borders".
" The barricade system is based on two meters deep trenches and
soil fences and monitoring points taking into consideration not to
encroach on private property and getting closer to the borders.
He said so far 10 km barriers were implemented by the Ministry of
Defense in collaboration with ministries of industries according to
the source.
The Tunisian minister of defense said the barrier system would
curtail smuggling which is active in the area due to the desert
nature of the boarders which make it easy to smugglers to smuggle
commodities and arms.
