FAO Considers Regional Project to Alleviate Effects of Drought in Sahel Countries.

Nouakchott, 9 July 2015(Lana) The UN Food and Agriculture
Organisation FAO is planning to set up a regional project in
collaboration with members of the Inter-state Committee to Combat
Drought in the Sahel States CILLS, to be financed by the
International Environment Fund.
The project aims to eliminate the expired chemical substances,
treat the soil and to bring about substitutes to these substances,
the FAO Representative in Mauritania Atman Meravili said.
Meravili added that the organisation was working on curbing
desert locusts in the sub-Saharan area, which needed proper measures
to be taken to deal with chemical substances used to combat this
plague, to ensure food safety.
