Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 14 June 2105(Lana) The Libyan Centre for Research and
Development in collaboration with the Libyan Policy and Strategies
Organisation, have organized a seminar under the theme 'impact of
political division on government institutions, economic activity and
social reality.'
Discussion was focused on current and future ramifications of
political division, and the positive approaches that can be employed
to contain them or scale down their political, security, economic and
social effect.
Presentations dealt with the consecutive governments in Libya in
the aftermath of the February revolution, and the dilemma faced by
the executive power in dealing with both political and security
aspects of government, in the absence of state institutions and the
domination of so called weapons democracy, and attempts to control
oil terminals by paramilitary groups.
Several recommendations were made, to get the country out of its
current political and state division, bring about a political
solution and to avoid drawing sovereign institutions into the
political wrangling.
