Libyan Algerian dialogue: participants praise progress achieved in political dialogue.

Algiers, 04.05.2015(Lana) The participants in the 3 rd round of
Libyan party leaders and activists welcomed Thursday progress
achieved in the political dialogue process, underlining their firm,
conviction that there is no solution to Libya crisis apart from
dialogue.
In their final statement they underscored that the UN sponsored
dialogue is the sole mechanism to respond to the aspirations of the
Libyan people, ensuring respect for the democratic track and
resumption of the peaceful transition of power in Libya based on
principles of democracy and separation of powers and respect for
human rights and sovereignty of law.
The statement urged the parties concerned in the Libyan political
dialogue to realize the aspirations of the Libyan people by putting
an immediate end to the conflict in Libya through a genuine political
partnership, transparent rule and commitment to fighting corruption.
The statement called on parties to show flexibility and make
necessary compromise to score an inclusive, balanced and consensus
political agreement and speeding up the formation of the government
of national unity.
The statement urged the parties represented in the political
dialogue to engage in a face-to-face discussions; calling for holding
to account those who hamper the political process be they individuals
or groups in line with the relevant UN resolutions.
The participants in the third round of dialogue expressed their
resolve to shoulder this responsibility at this decisive juncture of
the peace building process in Libya. They also voiced their concern
over the difficult humanitarian situation suffered by the Libyans
within and outside the country due to prolonged conflict. They
pressed for opening up of safe corridors to deliver humanitarian
assistance particularly as the holy month of Ramadan is approaching.
They stressed that they are fully aware of the perils of the
situation and challenges facing Libya, expressing concern over
increased pace of terrorist actions such as the menace of the so
called State Organization (ISIS) on state security and stability and
the need to stand in one rank in the face of this peril.
They categorically rejected in their statement the use of force
to achieve political goals, and conceded the pressing need to make
the use of force a state monopoly in order to restore peace, security
and stability.
The statement underscored the need to reach a Libyan solution
based on dialogue among Libyans without any foreign interference.
The statement called for rallying of efforts of all Libyans and
their neighbours to stand up to the phenomenon of illegal
immigration, reiterating conviction that the best way to counter this
phenomenon is by speedy agreement on forming a national consensus
government which should spearhead this effort in collaboration with
the international community with strict respect of Libya's
sovereignty, unity and relevant principles of international law.
The participants expressed their gratitude to Algeria for hosting
the track of Libyan political parties and activists and its
sincere efforts to help the Libyans reach a political consensus
agreement under UN auspices.
