Libyan Centre for Press Freedom Calls for Respect of UN Security Council Resolution on Protection of Journalists.

Tripoli, 2 June 2015(Lana) The Libyan Centre for Press Freedom
has called for respect of the UN Security Council Resolution on
protection of journalists against violations.
In a statement it published on its website, the Centre
highlighted the UN resolution which condemned all forms of gross
physical abuses against journalists during their job in area of
conflicts and urged states to track down and bring perpetrators to
justice.
The resolution is a pivotal for any international fruitful effort
to put in place an effective mechanism to protect journalists, the
statement said.
The UN Security Council Resolution No '2222' calls for respect
for journalists sign in dangerous areas, and to protect them as
non-combatant journalists covered by international conventions
regarding protection of civilians in wartime.
The resolution called on conflicting parties to cease violations
and to put an end to impunity.
It obliged states to investigate and track down those involved in
crime against journalists and media institutions.
