Second meeting of Libyan military attachés abroad held.

Tripoli, 26.05.2015(Lana) The second meeting of Libyan military
attachés abroad was held Tuesday at the Foreign Ministry in Tripoli.
The meeting focused on study of corruption at the military attachés
and ways to find solutions and put in a place a policy to curb
indiscriminate spending and squandering of public money.
The meeting was headed by Head of the National Salvation
Government and Minister of Defense Khalifa Al-Ghawail in the presence
of the foreign minister, and chief of general Staff and heads of
Libyan army staff, military attachés abroad and the committee
assigned by the government to follow up and take stock of and follow
up work of all military attaché offices abroad.
Al-Ghawail said at the meeting; " The ministry of defense is
burdened with great deal of its financial budget on military
attaches and offices abroad without return to the state on tasks to
which they are assigned, besides not applying quality assurance in
selection of military attachés'.
He said scrutiny revealed that the ministry of defense is
spending 13 million dinars monthly on salaries and student grants
abroad and over three millions monthly in study fees and medical
insurance and indiscriminate petty cash spent by the military
attachés abroad without itemization or control.
The head of government, Khalifa Al-Ghawail said NSG focuses on
construction and reform and all what has been agreed by the
participants at this meeting would be binding for all in order to
shift from theory into practice and from corruption to reform to
realize a better future for this homeland.
