Hillary Clinton says she'll testify about Benghazi attacks, Lawyer Says.
Pulbished on:
Washington, 5 May 2015(Lana) The lawyer of the former US
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she would testify before the
congressional committee charged with investigating the 2012 Benghazi
attacks.
In a letter to U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., the chairman of the
select committee, the lawyer said she is "ready and willing to
testify" when required. The letter said she would testify once, not
twice as Gowdy requested.
"Respectfully, there is no basis, logic, or precedent for such an
unusual request," attorney David Kendell said. "The secretary is
fully prepared to stay for the duration of the Committee's questions
on the day she appears."
Gowdy said last month he wanted Clinton to answer in two open
sessions questions about the Benghazi attack, and the use of her
personal e mail at the time when she was a secretary of state between
2009 and 2013.
Kendell's speech was published by Elijah Comings, a senior
Democratic member of the Benghazi commission.
A spokesman for Gowdy said he would consider Rendell's response
and issue a statement over the 'future course.'
