Tunisian accused in drowning of migrants boat appears before court.
Pulbished on:
Catania (Italy), 24.05.2015(Lana) The Tunisian Captain, of the
fishing boat that was carrying migrants before it drowned off the
shores of Libya where more than 700 people drowned, appeared before
an Italian judge on Friday after the prosecution called for indicting
him for killing several people.
The Captain could face accusation of secret migration and not of
killing several people.
Only 28 individuals survived the catastrophe, which is thought to
be the most casualties in the Mediterranean Sea for decades, and shed
light to the size of migrants' crisis Europe is facing.
Fridays session is a preliminary session that aims at allowing
the judge to establish the basic facts of the case before making a
decision on whether to level the accusations.
