Rome, 20 April 2015(Lana) Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has
ruled out any ground forces intervention in Libya at the time being,
describing the situation as 'very grave danger', as the illegal
immigration phenomenon got worse with sinking of a boat killing
hundreds of people on board.
In radio statements on Monday, Renzi said talk was about a
peace-keeping operation in Libya, explaining that 'the international
community had no clear vision or strategy for Libya.'
The Prime Minister said the Italian Government would ask Europe
to address the Libya issue more seriously, describing the
Mediterranean as a monster that could not be turned into a permanent
military zone, for a control should not be restricted to the Sea as
he said.
He hinted at imposing a Sea blockade in the Libyan territorial
waters, saying that it required an international agreement,
especially with the Libyan authorities, or else we need to declare a
war.
