Italy's Foreign Minister: International Community in Race Against Time Regarding Libyan Crisis.

Rome, 16 April 2105(Lana) in an interview with the Italian
Corriere Dela Sera newspaper on the eve of the G7 meeting, Italian
Foreign Minister Paolo Gentelone said it was a race against time for
the international community regarding the crisis in Libya, and a
failure to restore stability to the country, would trigger a need for
operations to combat terrorism, contain ISIS and to curb immigration
towards the southern shores of his country.
'The message to the summit is that we will not give in to the
notion that establishment of stability in Libya is impossible,
Gentelone said.
'We are in need for a strong diplomatic narrative from the major
powers, to convince Libyan parties and key regional players to set up
a broader government, on the basis of proposals submitted by the UN
Envoy Bernardino Leon, Gentelone added.
He said Italy was prepared to act as a coordinator of European
parties and the G7 in collaboration with Arab and African countries,
to place our forces at their disposal, to monitor and follow up the
stability of the political process after an agreement by the Libyan
parties has been reached in Morocco.
'We do not have months, there is multiple danger, namely the
advancement of ISIS and waves of illegal immigration which compel us
to a race against time, Gentelone said, repeating that 'an agreement
was not impossible, but we only have weeks.'
