Brussels, 23.03.2015(Lana) The Belgian capital Brussels was to
host Monday a Libya dialogue in which 24 mayors and local leaders
from various Libyan regions are to take part.
Italian news agency Aki said the dialogue sponsored by the UN
envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon was attended by the EU High
Representative for Security and External Relations, Federica
Mogerini.
The EU is promoting parallel activities to the dialogue underway
in Morocco which is supposed to produce government of national
unity.
The UN and EU are working to diversify dialogue , as already
Geneva hosted a meeting for head of municipalities last January and
Brussels also hosted a meeting for Libyan business people.
The EU eyes with great concern developments unfolding in Libya,
as it deems achieving security in this country a prerequisite for the
security of the region and Europe.
Mogerini expressed hope that the dialogue today and tomorrow would
give vigorous support to the political dialogue in Rabat.
The EU pledged to offer all forms of support to the government of
national unity when formed, but also threatened to impose sanctions
on parties that hamper dialogue.
