EU Council assigns Mogherini to prepare a new European strategy for Libya.

Brussels, 16.03.2015(Lana) EU Foreign Ministers assigned the EU Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini to prepare a new European strategy on Libya that takes into consideration the regional structure. Italian news agency reported on Monday that the appointment came in a statement issued by the EU foreign ministers during their meeting in Brussels on Monday. The statement urged Libya's neighboring countries to work to make the dialogue and democratic transition succeed and ward off from any action that could deepen the current division, and indicated that that the dialogue between the Libyan parties is at a critical juncture. The ministers expressed the readiness of the EU to cooperate with all the regional parties, Libya's neighbors, Arab League and the African Union to help restore peace and stability in Libya. The ministers underscored the importance of two parallel path , the political and security, and indicated that the current divisions and political disputes are in the interest of the extremists. The ministers expressed, in their statement, a strong condemnation to all acts of terrorism carried out by the extremist groups in Libya, and expressed their determination to assist the Libyan government, which should be formed as a result of the national dialogue to combat terrorism. The ministers expressed their adherence to the territorial integrity of Libya and the importance to preserve national sovereignty. = Lana
