Army Staff Clarifies Attack on Brak Air Base in South Libya.

Tripoli, 8 March 2015(Lana)The Army General Staff on Saturday has
issued a statement clarifying the situation regarding the attack
by armed men on Wednesday on the Brak Air Base in the southern
region.
The General Staff said 'armed gang men have attacked the Brak Air
Base on Wednesday morning March 4, and were confronted by the 3rd
Force assigned to protect the base and the Libyan southern region at
large.
The attack resulted in the killing of soldier from the 3rd Force
and wounding of another, it said.
It added that soon after the attack, an ambulance was kidnapped
in Gira area while on way from Sebha to the base.
The armed gangs launched another attack on the same day, but were
repulsed by the 3rd Force, then on Friday they attacked again but
also were repulsed. Several gang men were killed or wounded, and 5
arrested, it added.
Meanwhile, the General Staff leadership denounced the terrorist
attack on the oil fields and the bombing of Mi'tiga Airport which it
said came despite a pledge by the perpetrators to stop aerial
bombardment to give dialogue a chance.
The General Staff reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful solutions
and promised to respect its results, and voiced its support to UN as
well as local efforts to bring about peace and stability in Libya.
