GNC legislative and Constitutional Committee renew condemnation of Libyans imprisoned in UAE.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 25.02.2015(Lana) The GNC Legislative and Constitutional
Committee renewed its condemnation of arrests of several Libyans by
United Arab Emirates for about six months without any legal measures
such as referring them, to the judiciary or enabling them to appoint
lawyers and depriving them of their rights according to Universal
Declaration for Human Rights.
In a statement today the committee underlined that the Libyan
detainees did not commit any crime but they were arbitrarily arrested
for political reasons without legal support in contradiction of all
international laws and conventions.
The GNC committee urged the authorities concerned in the Emirates
to release immediately the remaining detainees similar to those
released earlier.
It appealed to sisterly Gulf Cooperation Council to make their
good offices for the release and return home of Libyan detainees in
UAE.
