Italian Ambassador: Situation Not Out of Control in Libya.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 25 February 2015(Lana) Italian Ambassador to Libya
Giuseppe Botcino has said 'the situation in Libya is never out of
control, and no threat at all in the country.'
In a presentation at the conference on 'Crisis in Libya, Military
Intervention or Political Solution', which was organized in Rome, by
the International Affairs Foundation, Botcino said 'according to the
information we had, Tripoli and Sirte have not fallen into the hands
of ISIS.'
He was quoted by the Italian news agency Aki as saying 'it is
obvious that the military solution does not serve Libya, we need to
reach some sort of agreement between the two camps in Libya.'
'It is unattainable actually, in the opinion of most observers,
to combat terrorism in a divided Libya, because the polarization will
reach such a point that combating it becomes an unessential matter,
he said.
Botcino noted that the real point is that both sides realized
that military solution was unattainable, and if this notion prevailed
locally and at the international community level, then a national
unity government could be created.'
There is hope that all of the afore-said components could meet in
Morocco.
