Rome, 15.02.2015(Lana) Italy closed Sunday its embassy in Libya
due to what it described as escalation of the conflict, and renewed
its call to set up an international peace keeping mission to help in
calming down the situation.
Italian Foreign Minister, said in a statement; "The deterioration
of the situation in Libya made closing the embassy an imperative
matter, and the embassy staff expatriated by sea".
On her part Italian Defense minister said in an interview with an
Italian newspaper Sunday that the groups infiltrated by the
extremists in Libya must be neutralized and there must be a peace
keeping mission throughout the country'.
If in Afghanistan we sent about five thousand men, in the case of
Libya where the situation is of more concern to us, and the
escalation of the situation disturbs Italy more our mission could be
bigger numerically, she added.
The minister, however, said no decision has been taken yet on how
to confront the situation.
The defense minister statements came after two-days from Italian
foreign minister statement that Italy " is ready to fight" in Libya
if the case do arise.
