Libya's Wheat Reserves to Run out in 2 to 3 Months, Says Government Official.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 12 February 2015(Lana) The Libyan wheat reserves are
expected to run out within two to three months, unless the Price
Stabilization Fund receives money held up because of the dwindling
oil prices, the Chairman of the fund said .
In press statements, Jamal Al Sheibani said wheat imports have
been blocked by the shelling of Misrata Seaport which discouraged
shipping companies to deal with Libya.
The shortfall in foreign currency the banks suffer as a result of
a decline in oil revenues, has led to the decline of supply of wheat
to bakeries to 65,000 tons a month, Al Sheibani said.
