Ghadamas, 11.02.2015(Lana) Head of GNC negotiating team, Dr Salah
Al-Makhzoum described today's meeting in Ghadamas dialogue as
positive and constructive, 'Even though we did not met face to face',
he pointed out.
At a press conference Wednesday in Ghadams City, Al-Makhzoum
said; "Communications between the parties were conducted in this
session through the international mediator, nevertheless, we consider
it a constructive gathering, and we asked the international mediator
and UN mission that we are ready to meet face to face with the other
side directly and in any other session'.
'We are awaiting response for the request, and we as Libyans are
prepared to set down face to face to discuss quick and effective
political solution to make dialogue a success and come out with an
output that can be applied on the ground, end shedding of Libyan
blood and achieve social peace in Libya' he added.
He underlined that an agreement was made with UN mission that the
main parties to the political dialogue are 4+4, explaining that the
dialogue team received from UN mission a set of draft proposals in a
form of points that constitute principles and confidence building
measures between the parties.
Al-Makhzoum said GNC would respond to these proposals after
discussing them at a GNC session coming Sunday.
'We informed the head of UN mission, Bernardino Leone' our
indignation over the criminal actions carried out by so-called
Hafter,- who is wanted by justice- such as killing, displacement and
destruction of Benghazi and other cities, and such daily bombardment
which we become familiar with in Libya and particularly in Benghazi,
and the need that the UN Mission make its efforts to stop it' Head of
GNC negotiating team said.
An agreement was made with the UN Mission on the need to announce
an immediate ceasefire for the bombardment and the criminal acts in
Benghaizi specifically and all acts of Hafter and the need to open
safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to our people in Benghazi,
he went on to say.
Al-Makhzoum said as far as dialogue, its parties and mechanism
are concerned emphasis were made on the need to exclude all those who
work for spoiling the dialogue efforts, those who make racist
statement and accusations through the mass media.
Al-Makhzoum also said the are those who want to undermine
dialogue through such accusations, and libelous statements and
insults, and this is very dangerous on these days which we consider
historic to reach a peaceful solution that stops bloodshed and war in
Libya and sets off towards state of law and institutions.
Emphasis were also made on prevention of foreign intervention
because such prevention would bolster success opportunities of
political dialogue, as well as the emphasis on the need that the UN
mission would work to make these parties on equal footing at the
political level, he added.
At the outset of the press conference, Al-Makhzoum thanked the
people of Ghadamas and head and members of Ghadamas municipal council
for the warm reception and hospitality.
He also thanked heroic revolutionaries at the fronts and those
who rally every Friday at squares advocating that dialogue be
Libyan-Libyan and in Libya.
Dr Al-Makhzoum also thanked UN Mission for its efforts conducive
to the success of dialogue and its response and support as mission
that follows up the issue of dialogue between the Libyans and that
it would be in Libya.
