'Feature' Geneva Dialogue Libyans' Hopes and Disappointments.
Pulbished on:
Tripoli, 8 February 2015(Lana) Libyans from different walks of
life have pinned their hopes on the UN-sponsored dialogue to end the
crisis and unite the country under one government that can rebuild
the country's institutions in line with the principles of the Feb 17
Revolution during which all Libyans stood together to dismantle the
dictatorial regime.
Many see the Geneva dialogue as a chance to reach a peaceful
solution, reconcile the antagonists and bring the country back
together again.
Others, whose opinion was polled by the Libyan news agency,
expressed skepticism over the success of the dialogue talks, because
of the fact that the talks were being held outside the country, and
the intervention of foreign powers in the Libyan business to serve
their own interests at the expense of Libyan bloodshed.
Many observers believe that the movement of the talks to a venue
inside Libya could provide a common ground that could bring together
all players on the Libyan scene to reach a peaceful solution and
build confidence between the warring factions.
