Protests in Bin Gardan Against Tax Imposed by Tunisia on Libyan Nationals.

Mednine, 3 February 2015(Lana) There have been protests in the
southern Tunisian city of Bin Gardan on Monday, for the second
running day against a tax which Tunisian Government imposed on Libyan
nationals entering into Tunisia, which sparked a reciprocal measures
from the Libyan side.
The Tunisian news agency quoted protesters as calling for a
return of economic activity across the border, as traders cross the
border with Libya were affected by the 30 dinars levied by the Libyan
Government as a reciprocal measures for the Tunisian tax.
They said the 30 dinar tax imposed by the Tunisian Government had
far-reaching effect; including a decision by the Libyan side to stop
movement of goods from Libya to the Tunisian side, which created a
state of tension among the inhabitants of Bin Gardan and a stagnation
in its market.
The protesters called for the tax to be abolished and for the
normal trade activity to return across the border.
