General Prosecution Says Officials in Medical Supplies Services Arrested Over Invalid Drug Purchases.

Tripoli, 2 February 2015(Lana) The Head of investigation office
at the General Prosecution Authority Al Sidiq Al Sour said that
officials working for the Medical Supplies Services have been
arrested in connection with purchases of invalid drugs in the last
period.
'Ten men from the MSS were remanded in custody for a week, in the
case involving purchasing of invalid drugs worth millions of dollars,
in addition to other drugs that are not needed by Libyan public
hospitals, Al Sour said in statements to the press.
He pointed out to fraud in big deals the Medical Supplies
Services made, including purchasing large quantities of medicine
without authorization from the Ministry of Health.
'There are other violations which included dividing contracts in
several phases, and making contracts worth of no more than 5 millions
to evade inspection by the audit office, he added.
He said squandering of public money under the consecutive
government was very huge in most of the ministries.
