Head and Representatives of Councils agree to work jointly to improve living conditions and support political process Geneva, 31.

01.2015(Lana) The Representatives of the Municipal and
Local Councils from several municipalities and cities in Libya
concluded the two-day UN sponsored talks in Geneva and all of them
are confident that the cooperation at the grassroots level will help
establilsh peace in the country.
The participants expressed their conviction that frank and
genuine exchange of points of view between the Libyans is the
foundation for genuine reconciliation, and underscored the importance
of joint action and cooperation with the aim of finding an
appropriate environment to make the talks succeed, which aiims at
reaching a peaceful solution for the Libyan political and security
crisis, according to UNSMIL statement on its website.
The confrees agreed to send a clear message to all Libyans that
theu came to Geneva in the hope of establishing peace, according to
each ones responsibility.
The statement added that the partiicpants are discussing
mesesures that would help build confidence, which was realized during
th epath of the main political dialogue and how to improve the
people's daily lives.
The participants also agreed to send a clear message to
conflicting parties to heed the calls of the elected heads and
representatives of the municipalities, who are closer to the people
in their areas and know their needs, and it is high time for ending
the conflict.
The statement also said that the participants agreed to form a
multiple work group to follow-up efforts aimed at imrpoving the
living standards of the Libyans who suffered greatly and lost loved
ones and property, and they were also forced to leave their homes.
The statement also said that Bernardino Leone, UN Secretary
General Special Representaive and the Head of the UNSMIL addressed
the participants and said "We all agree that the wounds of Libyan
people are deep, and no one was spared,". "Your fears are related to
the future and what iit hides for future generations, however, to
work for the future, we should all look ahead and focus on the method
that we could work with jointly to help establish peace and security
in Libya.".
