Geneva, 27 January 2015(Lana) The Head of the UN Support Mission
in Libya Bernardino Leone has expressed his confidence that Libyans
had the obvious resolve to reach an agreement to pacify the country
and overcome the crisis.
In statements posted on UNSMIL website, Leone said 'there was a
positive spirit and sound visions on the dialogue table and
everything looked extremely positive.'
The meeting was an extension of the January 14-15 sessions, and
was designed to discuss the items agreed in the previous session, he
said.
The UN Envoy indicated that discussion would continue on Tuesday
to be followed on Wednesday by a meeting for representatives of local
councils and cities from all over Libya to discuss
confidence-building measures.
However, the Geneva meetings are not attended by the General
National Congress which suspended its participation following the
escalation of clashes in Benghazi which culminated in the storming of
the Central Bank of Libya branch in the city.
