The advice which was published on the Department's website on
Tuesday urged nationals to avoid public places and un-necessary
movements around the country.
The Department cited 'unstable security conditions and inability
of the Government to rebuild the Army and Police to establish
security in the aftermath of the 2011 uprising, and the widespread of
arms and anti-aircraft weapons.'
It expressed concern over escalating violence against civilian
interests, and advised the US ships to exercise caution when
approaching the Libyan territorial water and oil terminals.
