Tripoli, 12.01.2015 (lana) Minister of Electricity, Nuraddeen
Salem attributed power disruption problems to maintenance
difficulties in unsecure areas, besides the wave of cold sweeping the
country.
At a press conference Sunday, the minister said; " maintenance
work is continuing due to efforts of engineers and technicians in the
secured areas, but it is not possible to carry out maintenance work
in places of fighting due to danger to maintenance teams.
The minister however, underlined the resolve of Electricity
Public Company to alleviate the intensity of the problems faced by
the national grid which led to inability to provide electricity to
all cities and regions.
The minister also said the cold wave currently sweeping the
country caused damage to 11,000 KV lines , as well as excess load
and over consumption by the consumers such as using electricity for
heating, and that population growth in some areas led to increasing
power load with negative impact at this time of the year.
