Tripoli, 11.01.2015 (Lana) GNC source said representatives of
Italian parliament were to meet Sunday GNC members in Tripoli, in
line with GNC reaching out to legislative bodies across the world,
according to Anatolia news agency.
Members of the Italian parliament, mayor of Rome, and several
business people arrived in Tripoli Saturday evening, and where
received at Maitiqa airport by Mayor of Tripoli Central, Al-Mehdi
Al-Harati and several official dignitaries.
Mayor of Tripoli municipality met with mayor of Rome with whom he
discussed the two countries economic cooperation , in the presence of
several Libyan and Italian business people.
In another development, Italian foreign ministry, said in a press
statement; " It fully supports the initiative of the head of UNSMIL
in Libya Bernardino Leon, on an inclusive dialogue that brings
together all Libyan parties in Geneva".
"Leon continued in recent months to work with the support of the
international community, and Italy in particular, to work for an
inclusive dialogue which started from meetings held in Ghadamas and
Tripoli "the Italian foreign minister, Paolo Gentiloni, said.
"There is no alternative to this process in order to end current
conflict, prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian
situation which effects profoundly civilian population, and to
restore sovereignty, stability and security in the country'
Gentiloni, said.
The Italian minister asserted that the next week's meeting in
Geneva would be an opportunity that must be seized bravely and with
determination in the interest of a unified, democratic and sovereign
Libya. The Italian foreign minister asserted that Italy supports
those efforts which would effectively contribute to realizing the
goal of forming a national unity government and ceasing hostilities.
