Tripoli, August 31, 2025 (LANA) - Starting tomorrow, Monday, September 1, the new amendments approved by the Libyan Customs Authority regarding the estimated values of customs duties on cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be implemented across all customs departments nationwide.
The Customs Authority stated that this amendment was made based on a circular issued by the Ministry of Finance, as part of efforts to unify customs policies across various centers and achieve a more accurate tax balance.
The Authority added that this step is part of efforts to reform the tax system and generate additional financial resources for the state, in line with the government's financial policy priorities and efforts to achieve tax justice and increase public revenues to support the budget and enhance the stability of the national economy.
The amendment includes a 10% increase in duties on four-wheel drive vehicles and a 5% increase in duties on front-wheel drive vehicles, based on the base price of each category.
As for trucks and heavy machinery trailers, it was decided to increase the estimated customs duty by 5% for models older than 2022, starting at 20,000 Libyan dinars. The same rate will be imposed on models manufactured since 2023, starting at 40,000 dinars.
The decision also includes motorcycles, with a 10% customs duty imposed on models older than 2022, starting at 2,000 dinars. The same rate will be applied to models newer than 2023, starting at 6,000 dinars.
