Guterres appoints Sweden's Richardson as his new Resident Coordinator and Deputy Special Representative for Libya.

New York, August 9, 2025 (LANA) - United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced the appointment of Ingeborg Ulrika Ulfsdotter Richardson of Sweden as his new Resident Coordinator and Deputy Special Representative for Libya, succeeding Ignace Tshuma of Zimbabwe.
The United Nations stated in a statement that Richardson brings more than 30 years of experience in development, humanitarian assistance, and post-conflict recovery, with a focus on complex political, social, economic, and human rights situations.
According to the international organization, Richardson has spent most of her career with the United Nations, working in various regions, including West and Central Africa, the Caribbean, the Western Balkans, and Southeastern Europe.
She has served as Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (UNIOHA) and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Haiti since 2022, and previously as Resident Coordinator in Kosovo.
Richardson holds a Master's degree in Development Economics from the University of Gothenburg and a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Lund University in Sweden. In addition to her native language, Swedish, she speaks English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
