Sisi Receives Haftar.

Cairo, June 30, 2025 (LANA) – The Egyptian Presidency stated that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, on Monday in El Alamein. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Security Forces; Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Land Forces; and Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of the General Intelligence Service.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that President El-Sisi stressed during the meeting that Libya's stability is an integral part of Egypt's national security. He explained that Egypt is exerting its utmost efforts, in coordination with the Libyan parties and the General Command of the Libyan Army, to support security and stability in Libya, preserve its unity and sovereignty, and restore its development path. He affirmed Egypt's full support for all initiatives aimed at achieving these goals.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy added that El-Sisi expressed Egypt's commitment to preserving the unity and cohesion of Libyan state institutions, stressing the importance of enhancing coordination among all Libyan parties to develop a comprehensive political roadmap that paves the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. He also emphasized the need to confront foreign interference and work to expel all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territory.
El-Shenawy said that El-Sisi expressed Egypt's appreciation for the national role played by the Libyan National Army in combating terrorism, which has contributed to the elimination of terrorist organizations in eastern Libya.
According to the presidential spokesperson, Field Marshal Haftar, for his part, expressed his deep appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt in restoring security and stability in Libya, praising Egypt's tireless efforts in supporting the Libyan people since the outbreak of the crisis, within the framework of the historical relations that unite the two brotherly peoples.
He also valued Egypt's effective contribution in transferring its development experience to Libya and benefiting from the expertise of leading Egyptian companies. He emphasized the continuation of efforts to overcome challenges to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people for stability and prosperity.
