Tetteh: The value of the Libyan dinar has deteriorated.

New York, June 24, 2025 (LANA) - The UN envoy to Libya, Hannah Tetteh, said that the value of the Libyan dinar has deteriorated over the past period and that a unified budget has not been reached, placing significant pressure on the Central Bank of Libya.
During her regular briefing to the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Tetteh stressed that the lack of agreement on the budget and the ongoing division threaten the already unstable security situation.
Tetteh continued, "If the House of Representatives approves the 69 billion dinar Development Fund budget, this will undermine the Central Bank of Libya's ability to stabilize the exchange rate and contain inflation, and will put pressure on Libyan reserves."
