Minister of Oil and Gas meets with US Chargé d'Affaires.

Tripoli, June 19, 2025 (LANA) – The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdul Sadiq, discussed today, Wednesday, in Tripoli, with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for developing partnerships with American companies operating in the oil, gas, and energy sectors, in addition to the possibility of expanding cooperation in the fields of production, refining, and petrochemicals, as well as supporting exploration projects and encouraging the gradual return of American companies to the Libyan market.
The meeting also addressed the challenges facing the energy sector in Libya and the efforts made by the Ministry and the National Oil Corporation, with the support of the Government of National Unity, to achieve stability and increase production rates, which have reached unprecedented levels in recent years.
The two sides commended the successful visit of a delegation from the Government of National Unity, headed by Minister Abdul Sadiq, to Washington, D.C., from April 21 to 26, 2025. The visit included fruitful meetings with a number of senior executives and representatives of American companies operating in the energy sector, stressing that it represented a qualitative step toward strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, held at the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation, the two sides emphasized the importance of supporting technical and investment cooperation, particularly with regard to the return of American companies to the Libyan market and the expansion of their exploration and technical activities during the next phase.
