Tripoli, June 18, 2025 (LANA) - The Governor of the Central Bank, Naji Issa, discussed yesterday, Tuesday, in Tripoli, with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Ambassador Nicola Orlando, the challenges facing the Libyan economy and the urgent need to stabilize the currency and contain inflation in light of rising public spending, according to the latter's statement.

Ambassador Orlando said in a tweet published by the European Union Delegation on its page on the X platform: "We agreed on the importance of fiscal responsibility across all institutions and the need for the House of Representatives to adopt a unified, transparent, and accountable spending framework."

"Protecting the independence, integrity and effectiveness of Libya's economic and regulatory institutions, starting with the Central Bank, is vital to the country's future," Orlando added in the tweet.
