Egypt Stresses the Importance to Advance the Political Process in Libya

New York, April 18, 2025 (LANA) - The Permanent Mission of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Nations in New York announced a meeting between Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Permanent Representative of Egypt, and Ms. Hanna Tetteh, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, on the sidelines of the latter's first briefing to the Security Council on her mandate.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Libya and exchanged views on ways to support a comprehensive political process that guarantees pure Libyan ownership and leads to a permanent solution to the crisis.

Ambassador Abdel Khalek reiterated Egypt's full support for the role played by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), stressing the importance of continued international and regional coordination to advance the political process and achieve stability in the country.
