Rome - April 15, 2025 (LANA) - Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto welcomed Saudi Arabia's accession to the Global Combat Air Program, which currently includes Italy, Britain, and Japan.
In an interview with Reuters, Crosetto said, "The choice of Japan was fundamental in this regard, as was Saudi Arabia, which desires technological growth and has more available resources than our three countries."
The Italian minister emphasized the importance of the program, which aims to develop an aircraft by 2035 equipped with the latest technologies, describing it as an example of expanding defense cooperation to include countries outside Europe.
