Berlin - April 4, 2025 (LANA) - Minister of Social Affairs Wafaa Al-Kilani participated yesterday, Thursday, in the high-level Arab event held on the sidelines of the Global Disability Summit in Berlin, in the presence of a number of Arab and international officials.
The Ministry of Social Affairs stated that during her speech at the summit, the Minister affirmed Libya's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship for persons with disabilities and promoting technology and innovation as key tools for empowering them and ensuring their independence. She emphasized the need to adopt policies that support their integration into the labor market and entrepreneurial projects.
The Minister presented several proposals to enhance Arab-international cooperation, most notably the launch of a participatory mechanism between Arab countries to exchange expertise and develop specialized training programs. She also announced Libya's willingness to contribute to this award to support their empowerment and stimulate their creativity.
During her speech, the Minister also called for the development of a special vision to support our brothers in Palestine and countries experiencing armed conflicts and challenges. Paying special attention to least developed countries.
The Minister emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities in the face of risks, wars, epidemics, and crises, based on the Tripoli Declaration 2024 issued at the high-level event hosted by Libya last year.
At the end of her speech, the Minister announced Libya's welcome of the "Amman-Berlin Declaration" project, affirming Libya's readiness to cooperate and coordinate with sister countries to implement its requirements, through strong partnerships with organizations of persons with disabilities, and under the umbrella of the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs.
Discussions focused on the importance of Arab-international cooperation in supporting the rights of persons with disabilities, especially in light of the challenges they face as a result of crises and conflicts.
