New York, April 1, 2025 (LANA) - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced, that at least 322 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip in the past ten days since Israel resumed its aggression on Gaza on March 18, following a two-month hiatus.
UNICEF, reported in a statement that the collapse of the ceasefire and the resumption of heavy shelling and ground operations in the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 322 children and the injury of 609 others, representing an average of more than 100 children killed or maimed every day over the past ten days.
It has also explained, that most of these children were displaced and had taken refuge in temporary tents or damaged homes, noting that these numbers include children killed or injured in the airstrike on the emergency department of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said that a ceasefire in Gaza would have provided a safety net for children, adding that the suffering of children in the Gaza Strip has begun anew due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment.
