Kufra Municipality denies rumors of more than one million Sudanese refugees entering the country.

Kufra, March 19, 2025 (LANA) - The Kufra Municipality denied reports circulating about the entry of more than one million Sudanese refugees into the country, stressing that this news is inaccurate.

The Director of the Municipality's Media Office, Abdullah Suleiman, said in press statements that the circulating figures regarding the entry of more than one million Sudanese refugees into Libya are incorrect, indicating that the actual number is much lower.

Suleiman noted that the Libyan borders are not subject to close monitoring, making it difficult to determine the actual number of Sudanese refugees who have entered the country since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Sudan.

He confirmed that the Kufra Municipality has previously issued more than 120,000 health certificates to Sudanese refugees, noting that their arrivals continue on a daily basis, albeit at varying rates.
