Tripoli, March 13, 2025 (LANA) – The National Institution for Human Rights in Libya affirmed its categorical rejection of any project to resettle migrants, stressing the need for the Ministry of Interior to address the phenomenon of illegal immigration and regulate migrant labor through organized legal, security, and labor mechanisms.
In a statement, the institution emphasized that addressing the migration issue must be done through deportation, voluntary return, and census, far from any incitement to hatred or inflaming public opinion against migrants. It warned of the security and legal risks that could result from the escalation of violence against foreigners.
The institution also called on citizens not to be drawn into inflammatory or violent calls, warning of the danger of committing acts of violence or revenge against migrants, especially in light of the media escalation on social media platforms and some local media outlets.
