Council of Arab Interior Ministers adopts phased plans to combat drugs and civil protection.

Tunis, February 16, 2025 (LANA) - The Council of Arab Interior Ministers adopted, today, Sunday, the eleventh phased plan for the Arab strategy to combat the illicit use of drugs and psychotropic substances.

The Council also adopted, in its 42nd session held in Tunisia, the seventh phased plan for the Arab strategy for civil protection (civil defense), in addition to the second phased plan for the Arab strategy to confront information technology.

The Council approved the report on the work of the General Secretariat between the two sessions (41-42), and the report on the work of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences during the same period.

It has also, valued the existing cooperation between the General Secretariat of the Council and a number of joint Arab action institutions and Arab and international organizations, stressing the importance of strengthening it to achieve common goals.

The Council decided to appoint Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman as Secretary-General for a new term, and to appoint Tariq Al-Majali as Assistant Secretary-General of the Council.

The 42nd session was held under the patronage of Tunisian President Kais Saied, with the participation of high-ranking security delegations, in addition to representatives of the League of Arab States, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol), the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Federation.
