Addis Ababa, February 15, 2025 (LANA) - The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi, stressed the importance of maintaining the unified African position on reforming the Security Council in accordance with the Azzolini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration to lift the historical injustice that befell Africa by obtaining fair representation from the permanent and non-permanent membership categories.
This came in a speech he delivered today, Saturday, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, in the meeting of the Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union on Security Council Reform, on the sidelines of the 38th session of the African Union Assembly, in the presence of the heads of state and government members of the committee.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Presidential Council called for moving forward in the discussions with the five permanent member states and other stakeholder groups.
