Al-Huwaij participates in the meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council in Cairo

Cairo, February 14, 2025 (LANA) - Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity Mohammed Al-Huwaij participated in the meeting of the Economic and Social Council at the level of Arab ministers in its 115th regular session, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

The meeting sessions, which took place on Thursday, discussed a number of items on the agenda, most notably the Greater Arab Free Trade Area project, developments in the Arab Customs Union, and the unified Arab economic report for the year 2025, according to a statement by the Ministry of Economy.

The discussions also touched on an agreement aimed at regulating the exchange of exemptions from taxes and customs duties on the activities and equipment of the Arab air carrier.

In his speech, Al-Huwaij stressed the stability of the economic situation in Libya and the importance of strengthening economic relations between Arab countries. He stressed the need to activate the Arab Free Trade Zone and implement the food and drug security strategy and transform it into practical steps.
