Danish Prime Minister: Greenland is not for sale.

Copenhagen, February 4, 2025 (LANA) - Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced, that the self-governing island of Greenland is not for sale, after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US President Donald Trump's interest in buying the island is "not a joke".

President Trump, said he would make Greenland part of the United States, and did not rule out using military or economic force to persuade Denmark to hand it over.

Mette Frederiksen continued before an informal meeting of EU leaders in Brussels: "Greenland today is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, part of our territory, and is not for sale".

The Danish Prime Minister spoke by phone with Trump in mid-January, stressing that Greenland is the master of its future.
