Council of Arab Health Ministers votes to approve Libya's hosting of the 62nd session.
Pulbished on:Baghdad, December 13, 2024 (LANA) - The Council of Arab Health Ministers voted to approve Libya's hosting of the 62nd session to enhance joint health cooperation.
This came during the participation of the Minister of Health in charge of the Government of National Unity, "Ramadan Abu Janah", in the meetings of the 61st session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, which was held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, over two days, in the presence of ministers and high-level officials from Arab countries.
The meetings discussed the most prominent health issues of common interest among Arab countries, with a focus on the health and humanitarian conditions in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen, and their urgent health needs. It also addressed the role of Arab immigrant health competencies in supporting the health sector in Arab countries, and the importance of activating their contributions to improving health services.
In his speech during the session, Abu Janah stressed that the meeting embodies the spirit of joint Arab cooperation in the field of public health, and affirms the commitment to enhancing the well-being of Arab peoples and achieving health security in the region.
The Council reviewed the decisions of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States regarding the establishment of the Arab Drug Agency, as a pivotal step to enhance Arab pharmaceutical capabilities and ensure the provision of medicines and health supplies at reasonable prices and high quality.
Within the framework of developing Arab health systems, the Council called for adopting strategies for health-friendly budgets, and enhancing digital transformation in health services provided to citizens. The meeting also focused on the importance of enhancing Arab integration in the fields of medical research, exchanging expertise, and developing health infrastructure in line with the aspirations of the peoples of the region.
