Libya and Japan agree to hold a forum in Tripoli next year.

Tripoli, September 18, 2024 (LANA) - Minister of Economy and Trade "Mohammed Al-Huwaij" agreed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Japan to Libya "Shimura Izuru" to prepare a memorandum of understanding to protect the rights of investors in the two countries, and to hold a Libyan-Japanese forum in Tripoli during 2025, with the participation of the private sector from both countries.

The two sides discussed during the meeting held on Tuesday at the Ministry's headquarters in Tripoli; ways to enhance trade and economic cooperation with Japan, as part of the visits of the delegation of the Government of National Unity and its vision for economic partnership with friendly countries.

The meeting also reviewed ways to open new horizons for developing bilateral relations in the fields of clean energy, industrial zones, and free zones, as well as the possibility of opening a branch of the Libyan-Japanese Center for Training and Consulting in Libya.

"Al-Huwaij" stressed that the ministry provides all necessary facilities for Japanese companies and investors to work in various regions of Libya.

In turn, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his country's desire to enhance economic and trade cooperation and increase trade exchange between business owners in the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the Japanese Ambassador extended an invitation to the Minister of Economy and Trade to participate in Expo Japan 2024, where he assigned "Al-Huwaij", the head of the Exhibitions Authority, to communicate with the Japanese side to achieve Libya's participation in this exhibition.
