Al-Zaidani discusses with a UN official the ongoing projects between the two parties.

Tripoli, 2 September 2024 (Lana): GNU Designated Minister of Planning, Mohamed Al-Zaidani, discussed yesterday with UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Libya, Sophie Kemkhadze, the mechanism of joint work during the upcoming period, and ongoing projects between the two parties, including the strategy of water security that is scheduled to be launched soon.

According to the Facebook page of the ministry, Kemkhadze stressed the importance of working with Libyan and international partners to achieve sustainable development goals in Libya, highlighting the importance of joint projects including the capacity-building project, the peacebuilding and local resilience enhancement program, and other projects.

The UN official commended the ministry’s efforts in following the goals of sustainable development and its presentation of the second voluntary national report for 2024 at the Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which was held under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council.

She also affirmed that UNDP is working as a key partner for the GNU through the UN framework for sustainable development cooperation (2023-2025), then raised a number of inquiries about the funding required for the reconstruction funds, stressing the program's commitment to its pledges to provide the necessary funding for participation.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Zaidani thanked the international partner for its fruitful cooperation, stressing the GNU’s commitment to its pledges regarding the files of reconstructing the areas targeted by the reconstruction funds.
