Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 8, 2024 (LANA) - The Chairman of the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, “Walid Al-Lafi,” discussed today, Monday, with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Libya, “Georgette Gagnon,” preparations for holding the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum.
The meeting discussed issues related to the trans-Mediterranean migration file and enhancing cooperation between the Government of National Unity and the United Nations to ensure the achievement of common goals in this field.
The President of the Forum, Walid Al-Lafi, received the first copy of the report on the activity of the United Nations humanitarian mission in Libya, which includes a comprehensive assessment of the humanitarian situation in the country and the challenges that the mission faces in implementing its programs and projects.
Al-Lafi stressed the government's commitment to cooperate with the United Nations to ensure the success of the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum and achieve the desired results as a confirmation of Libya's determination to cooperate with all parties in this file.
For her part, Gagnon expressed her gratitude for the efforts made by the Government of National Unity to organize the forum hosted by Tripoli on the 17th of this month, with broad participation from relevant African and European countries, with the aim of strengthening relations and establishing a strategic framework for dialogue and cooperation between Africa and Europe.
