Pulbished on:Benghazi, June 24, 2024 (LANA) - The US special envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, said that he and the Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, had a very useful discussion today, Monday, with the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, in Benghazi.
Norland added in a blog post published by the US Embassy on the X platform: “We discussed the importance of protecting Libya’s sovereignty, unifying its security institutions, and supporting the political mediation efforts of the United Nations mission in Libya.
According to the American envoy, the meeting discussed the importance of meeting the humanitarian needs of the growing number of Sudanese refugees.
