Ministry of Health is taking urgent measures in response to the situation in the city of Zawiya.

Tripoli, May 17, 2024 (LANA) - The Ministry of Health of the National Unity Government announced today, Saturday, a set of measures and instructions in response to the events taking place in the city of Zawiya.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Jannah, directed the Health Emergency Department and the Central Operations Room of the Ministry of Health, to coordinate with hospitals and agencies affiliated with the Ministry, and to submit reports on developments in health conditions within the areas of clashes.

The Minister asked hospitals and medical centers in the city of Zawiya to take the necessary measures and follow emergency and response plans, as well as the medical supply system, to meet the needs of the city’s health facilities and supply them with emergency medicines.

Abu Jannah also directed the ambulance and emergency services, and emergency medicine and support, to coordinate efforts to carry out evacuation operations, rescue citizens stranded in areas of clashes, and transfer injured cases to hospitals and specialized centers to provide the necessary medical care.

Abu Jannah appealed to civilians to follow safety and security procedures in places where clashes break out, by first staying away from windows and doors, and moving with caution to low floors and safe rooms.
